The Best-Placed Italian Restaurant in Each Country
La Lega, the Italian Restaurant League, covers 26 countries. Seven have a restaurant in Serie A, and their leaders sit near the top of the world table: Senzanome for Belgium (first), Autem for Italy (second), Roscioli NYC for the United States (third), Il Ristorante Luca Fantin for Japan (fourth) and Bancone for the United Kingdom (seventh). La Alacena Trattoria in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s only entry, is 14th, and Baduzzi in Auckland leads New Zealand in 15th.
Five more countries are led from Serie B: Czechia (Aromi in Prague, 25th), Switzerland and Thailand (both joint 29th), South Africa (joint 36th) and Singapore (40th).
France has six entries, but its best, Caffè Stern in Paris, is joint 51st. China’s six, four of them in Hong Kong, are led by Giando at joint 88th. Ten countries have a single entry, and the lowest-placed leader is Croatia’s only restaurant, Agli Amici Rovinj, joint 179th.
A country’s leader is simply its highest-placed restaurant in the world table. La Lega does not produce separate national scores, and countries with one or two entries are lightly covered. See the full La Lega table.
