In Sweden, the Two Blocs Are 30 Points Apart
Sweden‘s election on 13 September gave the centre-left bloc 176 seats and the right bloc 173. In the Political Party League, the two sides are much further apart than three seats.
Weighted by seats, Socialdemokraterna (7th of 203), Vänsterpartiet (34th), Centerpartiet (14th) and Miljöpartiet (1st) average 88. The Moderates (113th), the Sweden Democrats (182nd), the Christian Democrats (125th) and the Liberals (67th) average 58.
The Sweden Democrats account for the largest share of the gap. The right bloc’s second-largest party, with 62 seats, scores 39 and sits in Tier 5. Weighted by seats, the other three right-bloc parties average 68, still 20 points below the centre-left.
Government formation is still open. On 2 October the Speaker gave Magdalena Andersson a second attempt to form a government, with a deadline of 12 October. Prosecutors are also examining a fraud allegation in Dalarna that could lead to a re-run of the vote there.
Scores are from the April 2026 refresh. They do not yet reflect the September result, which feeds into each party’s Electoral Strength dimension.
