Hungary produces one of the most striking findings in the entire DMI Index.
Momentum Movement, a pro-European liberal party, ranks #20 out of 200+ parties across all 27 EU member states. Tier 1: Top Performance — the highest category in the index. Fidesz–KDNP, the party that has governed Hungary for over a decade, ranks #198. Tier 5: High Risk — the lowest category. 178 positions separate two parties competing in the same political system.
The DMI Index doesn’t measure ideology or electoral popularity. It measures documented behaviour — respect for democratic norms, impact on media freedom, rule of law, transparency, and accountability.
In Hungary, those two things have never been further apart.
